I was born and raised on a family cattle ranch. From the time I was a child, I lived my life in the outdoors of Florida’s natural landscape. I am fortunate to be able to continue with the ranching occupation so I continue to daily spend my time outdoors with all God’s creation around me. I was raised not only seeing the natural Florida but to truly appreciate it’s beauty. Daily I see the natural settings either while sitting on a horse, ATV, tractor, or in my truck. Being in agriculture, I always accepted the responsibility of taking care of the environment. With today’s technology, I always have my phone/camera in my pocket. I am constantly taking a photo of a sunset or sunrise. My paintings may not be the whole camera shot, but might only be a crooked tree, old stump, lightning struck tree, or anything unusual. I will then add a setting around that object. Though I always liked and enjoyed art, especially paintings, I never thought about myself painting because of my busy life. It wasn’t until I was in my 60’s that I just decided that I could do that and I was just going to make time. I have no formal training so I only paint what I see and feel. I also think I have always been blessed to see the many colors that make up a tree, bush, or anything else in nature. It is my hope that I can share the love, beauty, and appreciation that I have with others through my paintings on canvas.
